Three planets which were ‘discovered’

Only 3 of the 9 planets in our solar system have official “discoverers” and “times of discovery”.

which are these 3 planets and who discovered them?

• Uranus was discovered by Sir William Herschel in 1781.
• Neptune was discovered by Urbain Le Verrier, John Couch Adams and Johann Galle in 1846.
• Pluto was discovered by astronomer Clyde Tombaugh in 1930. (In 2006, Pluto was downgraded to dwarf planet category)

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn can all be seen with the naked eye, so it’s impossible to say who was the first human

to discover them, and when that was!
